How CoolSculpting Works

We live in a world obsessed with fitness, calories, body appearance, and likes, so it’s hard not to feel like we don’t look good. Your try to work out and eat healthier, but some fat just doesn’t go away. The lower abdomen, love handles, or inner thighs are some of the places we notice. For those looking to eliminate fat in those troublesome places, CoolSculpting could be the procedure for you. Sculpt MD wants to tell you how CoolSculpting works to eliminate that unwanted fat.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a fat reduction procedure that freezes your fat. Approved by the FDA, this procedure is not only non-surgical but completely safe. The amount of fat you have stays at a certain level from a specific point in your life, typically the teenage years. As you get older the fat cells grow bigger, but the number of cells you have doesn’t increase.

Through CoolSculpting, the fat cells you have are eliminated completely. It can actually reduce the amount of fat cells by 20-25% by freezing them away. There are no needles, anesthesia, and it’s completely non-invasive, so no poking or prodding. At Sculpt MD, we can treat many areas of your body like:

  • Chin
  • Chest
  • Arms
  • Flanks
  • Stomach
  • Outer & inner thighs
  • Knees
  • Buttocks
  • Lower & upper back

How CoolSculpting Works

This may sound like an amazing solution to your problems, but maybe almost too good to be true. But, it is true! At Sculpt MD, we will set you up with a consultation and a procedure plan, and you’ll be on your way to a slimmer you. It may seem like a complicated concept that requires a lot of testing, when in reality you can see results in as little as one treatment. The science behind it leaves your fat gone for good.

Step One: Your Consultation

The first thing to take care of if you want to get CoolSculpting is to schedule an appointment with Sculpt MD to see that it is right for you. During your visit, you’ll talk with our doctor about what you want to accomplish and in what areas.

Everyone has a different body, so talking with our doctor will help tailor your procedure specifically to you. You may need more than one treatment, but our doctor will be able to determine that after accessing your wants and needs.

Step Two: Your Procedure

Your procedure will be non-invasive and non-surgical which allows you to just sit back and relax. To protect your skin from the cooling, a gel pad will be applied to the area. Then, the applicator will be placed on top. With the applicator, we deliver a controlled and precise cooling that targets the fat cells to freeze them away. It may be a bit chilly since it is a cooling process, but that feeling only lasts 5-10 minutes before the body numbs. There will also be a vacuum that draws the fatty tissue into the applicator to be cooled, so there could also be a slight pulling, tugging, or pinching feeling.

One procedure can last between 35 and 60 minutes. During that time, you can do whatever you need to: relax, read, check emails, or take a nap! You may be able to have multiple treatments in one appointment if you’re treating multiple areas. The amount of treatments will be up to you and the doctor.

Once the procedure is complete, you can go back to your life. Many people go back to work after their appointment. There is no surgery which means no recovery or downtime during your procedure. Your results are rather quick. In as little as 3 weeks, you can start to see a change. The most dramatic difference will be about 2 months after, and your body can continue to change and shrink for 4-6 months after.

How CoolSculpting Works – The Science

It might seem impossible for fat to just vanish with a machine, but there’s only the truth! This safe procedure does freeze fat away. The controlled cooling that takes place targets the fat cells underneath your skin. With that process, the fat crystallizes and then dies. As your body processes the fat cells, it eliminates any dead ones through its natural elimination process. That fat is gone for good! In its place is a more sculpted you!

Are There Side Effects?

The side effects associated with CoolSculpting are minimal. Due to the cold, you could feel chilly in that treated area, which may result in tingling or stinging. There may also be slight aching or cramping, but these all tend to go away as the treated area numbs from the cold.

After your procedure, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, or cramping. You could experience minor skin sensitivity. These side effects usually fade within days of the procedure.

How CoolSculpting Works in the Long-Run

This question is asked very frequently. How long will my results last? In the end, it relies on you. While the procedure removes fat cells, you could still manage to make the remaining cells increase in size if you don’t properly care for your body. Some people use CoolSculpting as a way to give their workout an extra push to lose the fat in hard-to-reach places. Others us it as a way to jump start motivation to work out. They like to see themselves with less fat cells and want to start taking care of themselves more. Some people use it as a second chance to shape their body the way they want!

With the right motivation, your results could last you a long time!
