Pre-Treatment Instructions for Botox® & Neuromodulator

To minimize bruising and optimize results, please follow these guidelines:

  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before treatment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements for 5–7 days prior unless prescribed by your physician
    • This includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), fish oil, vitamin E, turmeric, garlic supplements, ginkgo, and ginseng
  • Arrive with a clean face if possible (no makeup on treatment areas)
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please notify us prior to treatment
  • Let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, feeling ill, or have had any recent vaccines or infections

After Your Appointment (Post-Care)

For the first 24 hours after treatment:

  • Do not rub, massage, or apply pressure to the treated areas
  • Avoid lying flat for 4 hours after treatment
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy sweating, saunas, steam rooms, or hot yoga for 24-48 hours (want to avoid getting sweat or anything trapped in the injection site so we can avoid infection)
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Avoid facials, facial massages, or other facial treatments for 72 hours

Additional notes:

  • Mild redness, swelling, or small bumps at injection sites are normal and typically resolve within a few hours
  • Minor bruising is possible and can last several days
  • Makeup may be applied gently after 24 hours, if desired
