Pre-Treatment Instructions for CoolSculpting® Elite
Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your treatment (at least 6–8 glasses of water daily).
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin) for 48 hours prior unless prescribed by your doctor. These can interfere with your body’s natural inflammatory response.
Eat a light meal or snack before your visit — don’t arrive on an empty stomach.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.
Shave or trim excessive hair in the treatment area for better applicator contact.
Let your provider know if you’ve had any recent surgeries, hernias, or medical changes since your consultation.
If you bruise easily, consider taking Arnica (homeopathic) starting 1–2 days before treatment to minimize bruising.
After Your Appointment (Post-Care)
Immediately After Treatment
Redness, swelling, firmness, bruising, tingling, or temporary numbness in the treated area are normal and resolve gradually.
Mild tenderness, itching, or sensitivity may occur as the area heals.
You can return to normal daily activities, including exercise, as tolerated.
For the First Week
Avoid using heat (hot packs, saunas) or ice directly on the treated area.
Stay well hydrated to support your body’s natural elimination of treated fat cells.
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (like ibuprofen) for 1–2 weeks unless medically necessary. The inflammatory process helps clear fat cells.
If you feel sore, you can use Tylenol (acetaminophen) for comfort.
Massage & ZWave
At Sculpt MD, we use ZWave technology immediately after your CoolSculpting treatment to enhance fat cell breakdown and improve results.
We recommend continuing ZWave sessions or gentle manual massage over the treated areas for up to one week post-treatment (as advised by your provider). - your protocol includes coming back 1 week post treatment to receive another ZWave massage.
If performing self-massage, use light to moderate pressure for 2–3 minutes twice daily.
Expected Timeline
Bruising and tenderness usually resolve within 1–2 weeks.
Numbness or firmness under the skin can last up to several weeks.
Gradual results are typically noticeable within 3–4 weeks, with full results around 12 weeks after treatment.
Please contact your provider if you experience:
Significant pain, hard nodules, or changes in skin color (blistering or persistent redness).
Any symptoms that worsen or feel unusual over time.
