What to Avoid Before Your HydraFacial
HydraFacial is the only patented hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, extraction and hydration simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with little to no downtime. The treatment is suitable for all skin types and can be used to address a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, dullness, and acne.
If you are planning on getting a HydraFacial, there are certain things that you should avoid doing beforehand. Here are some of the things that you should NOT do before receiving a HydraFacial:
1. Do not use retinoids or exfoliating products
Retinoids and exfoliating products can be harsh on the skin and can cause irritation and redness. It is recommended that you avoid using these types of products for at least 24-48 hours before your HydraFacial treatment.
2. Do not wax or shave the treated area
Waxing or shaving the treated area can cause irritation and make the skin more sensitive. It is best to avoid these types of treatments for at least 24 hours before your HydraFacial treatment.
3. Do not get a facial or chemical peel
Getting a facial or chemical peel before your HydraFacial treatment can make your skin more sensitive and may increase the risk of irritation or redness. It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks after a facial or chemical peel before getting a HydraFacial treatment.
4. Do not expose your skin to the sun
Exposing your skin to the sun before your HydraFacial treatment can cause sunburn or make your skin more sensitive. It is recommended that you avoid direct sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
5. Do not wear makeup
Wearing makeup before your HydraFacial treatment can interfere with the cleansing process and may prevent the treatment from being as effective as possible. It is recommended that you avoid wearing makeup on the day of your HydraFacial treatment.
6. Schedule your HydraFacial at least 2 days before a big event
Especially if it is your first time getting a HydraFacial, we recommend scheduling your treatment at least 2-3 days before your event. It is normal to experience peeling or mild irritation after treatment, and downtime may vary from patient to patient.Â
By following these guidelines, you will come prepared and can ensure that your HydraFacial treatment is as effective and comfortable as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us to speak with one of our medical estheticians.
