Microneedling with PRP, PRF, & PDGF+

Microneedling combined with advanced regenerative treatments like PRP, PRF, and PDGF+ takes skin rejuvenation to the next level. These therapies harness the body’s own natural healing properties to boost collagen production, improve texture, and enhance overall skin health. By pairing microneedling with these powerful growth factors, patients can achieve smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin with longer-lasting results.

Why consider microneedling with PRP, PRF, or PDGF+ at Sculpt MD?

As more people look for ways to keep their skin or hair looking healthy and young without an invasive surgical procedure, they are discovering microneedling with PRP, PRF, and PDGF+—treatment options that take advantage of your body's own healing power. All are non-invasive skin resurfacing procedures that can help correct age spots, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, lax skin, sun damage, large pores, or uneven skin.

Microneedling is a popular treatment with a proven, outstanding record of rejuvenation results that uses extremely fine needles to create micro-injuries in the targeted area of the skin. This treatment triggers a boost in the production of collagen and elastin, both crucial building blocks to generate fresh, radiantly rejuvenated skin.

Microneedling treatments can be given in conjunction with serums and other types of skin treatments, such as PRP, PRF, or PDGF+. The micro-wounds created during the microneedling process allow these regenerative substances to penetrate the skin deeper and dramatically increase the collagen production of your skin, causing wrinkles to fade and skin to become firmer, healthier, and more rejuvenated.

Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves a small, handheld device with tiny micro-needles. It passes over the skin, creating tiny channels, or micro-wounds, on the skin. The micro-wounds trigger the production of new collagen and elastin, including new capillaries to improve blood supply. The creation of these micro-wounds can also allow topical products to penetrate the skin deeper than they normally would. The skin’s ability to utilize the nutrients in the products increases up to 3,000%.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is obtained from an individual’s own blood. After a single blood sample is taken, the blood sample is spun in a centrifuge for 15 minutes to separate platelets from the blood. The PRP can be injected into the skin or inserted via microneedling.

PRP is full of growth factors that can help in the repair of tissue. FGF and PDGF, both growth factors found in platelets, promote cell growth, tissue repair, and the production of new collagen. PRP also contains stem cells, which can induce collagen production.

What are the benefits of microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP provides a number of benefits for patients:

Improves the appearance of broken capillaries and spider veins

Helps reduce enlarged pores

Corrects acne scarring

Corrects uneven skin tones

Helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines

Provides a youthful, healthy glow

Firms and smooths the skin

What is Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP is the combination of two procedures done simultaneously: Microneedling and PRP. When the two procedures are combined, it results in a facial and hair rejuvenation treatment that can create a younger-looking you!

Growth factors found in PRP:

FGF (fibroblast growth factor): tissue repair, cell growth, collagen production

PDGF (platelet derived growth factor): cell growth, new generation and repair of blood vessels, collagen production

VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor): growth and new generation of vascular endothelial cells

TGF-B (transforming growth factor betal): growth of epithelial cells, endothelial cells, promotion of wound healing

KGF (keratinocyte growth factor): growth and new generation of keratinocytes

EGF (epidermal growth factor): promotion of epithelial cell growth, angiogenesis, promotion of wound healing

What is Microneedling with PRF?

PRF, the Next Generation PRP – PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) is composed of platelet cytokines, growth factors and cells obtained from an individual's own blood. Platelets have incredible healing properties proven to speed up wound healing and control bleeding. The platelets in PRF contain effective, active proteins that heal and refresh the skin by releasing growth factors and replenishing nutrients that strengthen and rejuvenate the skin.

PRF is a more advanced version of PRP. It provides the same benefits while also releasing more growth factors over time, continuing to work even after the procedure is complete. The fibrin matrix in PRF continues releasing growth factors for up to 1 week after treatment.

During your PRF treatment, a single blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge for 5 minutes to separate the platelets and white blood cells from red blood cells. The PRF is then inserted into the skin via microneedling.

How Microneedling with PRF Transforms Skin

PRF treatment transforms your skin by activating and enhancing the natural healing and cell regeneration process with three simple steps.

  1. Inflammation & Application – The microneedling device penetrates the skin's surface, creating micro-wounds to trigger the body's natural healing response. PRF is applied directly to these channels to further stimulate collagen and elastin production.

  2. Rapid Cell Reproduction – The body rebuilds the tiny punctures with new cells supported by proteins, white blood cells, fibrin, and growth factors from PRF. A new network of blood vessels also develops.

  3. Remodeling – Over the next 4–8 weeks, new skin tissue and blood vessels form, rich in collagen and elastin. This improves skin tone and quality and reduces acne scars, wrinkles, and volume loss. Improvements continue as collagen production progresses.

What are the benefits of microneedling with PRF?

Microneedling with PRF provides a number of benefits for patients:

Safe and minimally invasive

Reduced wrinkles and fine lines

Tighter, firmer skin

Improves the appearance of broken capillaries and spider veins

More youthful-looking skin

Improved hydration and moisture retention

Improved acne and facial scars

Enhanced skin texture and tone

Helps reduce enlarged pores

Uses your body's own natural substances, which reduces potential risk

No downtime

Microneedling with PDGF+

The microchannels created by microneedling or Morpheus8 allow the growth factors to deeply penetrate, accelerating healing and enhancing results. PDGF+ injections can also directly target stubborn etched lines and wrinkles. Common areas treated include the neck, forehead, around the mouth, and more. This promotes natural skin regeneration, enhancing skin quality, texture, and firmness over time, offering a subtle yet long-lasting rejuvenation.

Ariessence Pure PDGF+ vs PRP/PRF

Traditional PRP and PRF treatments require drawing the patient’s blood, isolating the platelet-rich plasma by spinning the blood in a centrifuge, and then applying or injecting the concentrated plasma in the skin.

Both PRP and Ariessence™ Pure PDGF+ contain growth factors, but their origins are different. With PRP, they come from a client’s own blood, and their concentration is based on the client’s age, platelet count, and cell quality. PDGF+ is still naturally occurring, but the growth factors are created using recombinant technology, which produces a pharmaceutical-grade sterile and pure PDGF that contains up to 300,000 more growth factors per application vs PRP, PRF, and exosomes. This ensures a consistent, high-quality result with every treatment—with no blood draw required.

What are the benefits of microneedling with PDGF+

Microneedling with PDGF+ provides a number of benefits for patients:

Ariessence® Pure PDGF+ represents a breakthrough in skin rejuvenation as the first and only aesthetic product with an FDA-approved growth factor. Through its powerful regenerative properties of platelet-derived growth factor, this treatment offers patients a safe and effective way to achieve youthful, glowing skin.

Platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) is naturally found in human blood, platelets, embryonic tissues and bone, and is essential for cellular growth, tissue repair and wound healing. Recombinant PDGF has been utilized therapeutically for various treatments including orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery applications in over 5 million patients in the past 15 years.

PDGF stimulates the body’s natural repair processes by activating proliferation of stem cells, fibroblasts and smooth muscle, and supports the formation of new blood vessels, collagen, elastin, and extracellular matrix (including glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid), which are essential components of healthy, youthful skin. Histological analysis demonstrated that skin wounds treated with pure PDGF had fewer inflammatory cells and more abundant collagen synthesis with improved blood supply.

What can I expect from the procedure?

Both PRP and PRF microneedling treatments take about 60 minutes.

  1. Blood is drawn (PRP: one syringe; PRF: about three teaspoons).

  2. Blood is spun in a centrifuge (PRP: ~15 minutes; PRF: ~5 minutes).

  3. Microneedling is performed to create tiny skin channels.

  4. PRP or PRF is applied to these channels to stimulate healing and collagen production.

Am I a good candidate?

Microneedling with PRP or PRF is a natural and safe procedure performed on all different types of people regardless of their type of skin. It is a great alternative for those looking for a non-surgical procedure that can reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks.

PRF and PRP microneedling treatments are suitable for people of all skin types, colors and textures. Candidates should:

  • Want smoother, firmer, rejuvenated skin without surgery

  • Show early signs of age (laxity, pigmentation, wrinkles, sun spots)

  • Not have active acne or skin infections

  • Not have wound healing issues

  • Not have undergone radiation skin treatment in the last year

Microneedling may not be right for you if you have certain conditions (such as recent radiation, active infections, Accutane use, pregnancy, or bleeding disorders).

What will my recovery be like?

  • Since microneedling with PRP does not break down the epidermis, that means there is no scarring and no downtime! Your skin may be slightly pink and feel similar to a mild sunburn, but you can return to your normal activities. For most patients, the skin recovers in 24-72 hours. Following the treatment, it is important to stay out of the sun and protect the skin with a high SPF sunscreen since the skin will be sensitive to UV rays.

The body’s collagen production will take about 4-8 weeks, during which time you will continue to see improvements. Additional treatments may be required.

  • Microneedling with PRF leaves no scarring and requires no downtime or significant recovery period. Your skin may be slightly pink–the sensation is described by patients as similar to a mild sunburn. However, you can return to your normal activities right away. Your skin will fully recover in about 4-7 days. Stay out of the sun and use sunscreen to protect your skin while it’s still healing.

Your body will naturally begin to remodel your skin with the boost in collagen and elastin over the next 4-8 weeks. You will see continual improvements during this time and additional long term effects, including skin tightening and enhanced skin quality, up to 16 weeks after initial treatment.

Patients are free to return to work or their usual routines within 24 hours of their treatment. More extensive treatments may require 2-3 days for the skin to fully heal.

Microneedling With PDRF+ FAQ's

How is PDGF+ different from PRP or PRF?

Traditional PRP and PRF treatments rely on drawing the patient’s blood, spinning it in a centrifuge, and reapplying the platelet-rich plasma. The concentration and quality of growth factors depend on each patient’s platelet count, age, and cell quality.
PDGF+ is created using recombinant technology, producing a sterile, pharmaceutical-grade product with up to 300,000 times more growth factors per application than PRP, PRF, or exosomes. It requires no blood draw and ensures consistent, high-quality results every time.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients need 2–5 sessions, spaced 4–8 weeks apart, depending on the treatment area and goals.

When will I see results?

Many patients notice improved skin texture and hydration within 2–4 weeks. More visible results, like reduced wrinkles and firmer skin, appear after 3–6 months as collagen production increases.

How long do results last?

Results from PDGF+ generally last 6–12 months. Maintenance treatments and a consistent skincare regimen can help extend the benefits.
