VI Peel

BEFORE YOUR PEEL (7 Days Prior)

Please stop using the following at least 7 days before your appointment unless otherwise directed by your provider:

  • Retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or other exfoliating acids
  • Prescription acne or brightening creams
  • Waxing, threading, depilatory creams, or laser treatments in the treatment area
  • Facial scrubs, exfoliating brushes, or peels

Additional Pre-Care Notes:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanners).
  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotion, or sunscreen.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please notify us. Antiviral medication may be recommended.
  • Inform us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have started any new medications.

AFTER YOUR PEEL

First 4–6 Hours

  • Leave the peel solution on for at least 4–6 hours (or as directed by your provider).
  • Do not apply makeup, sunscreen, or other products during this time.
  • Avoid sweating, exercise, heat, or steam.

That Evening

  • Wash with a mild cleanser.
  • Apply the post-peel towelette provided.
  • Follow with the VI Peel post-treatment moisturizer.
  • Skin may feel tight, warm, or itchy — this is normal.

Days 1–7: Healing & Peeling Phase

  • Use only the products included in your VI Peel kit unless instructed otherwise.
  • Expect peeling to begin around Day 2–3, typically lasting 5–7 days.
  • Do not pick, peel, or pull flaking skin.
  • Avoid:
    • Retinoids, acids, exfoliants
    • Waxing, laser treatments, or facials
    • Saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga
  • Avoid strenuous workouts until active peeling subsides.
  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid touching your face unnecessarily.

Sun Protection (VERY IMPORTANT)

  • Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30-50+ daily, even indoors.
  • Reapply every 2 hours if outdoors.
  • Wear hats and avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Sun exposure during healing can cause hyperpigmentation.

What’s Normal vs. When to Call Us

Normal:

  • Redness, tightness, dryness
  • Peeling or flaking
  • Mild itching

Please contact us if you experience:

  • Severe swelling or blistering
  • Signs of infection
  • Persistent burning or pain
  • Dark patches that worsen instead of improve

Results & Maintenance

  • Skin clarity, reduced breakouts, and improved tone typically become noticeable once peeling is complete.
  • For acne and pigment concerns, a series of peels may be recommended.
  • Maintenance treatments are often done every 4–6 weeks, depending on your skin goals.
